My uncle was Richard Erban, Oshkosh, Wisconsin. According to his headstone application he was a member of Company H, 2nd Battalion, 350th Infantry Regiment, 88th Infantry Division, Serial Number 36802350. He was MIA on October 25, 1944, later determined to be KIA. The family has very little information regarding any details of his service, though I have his Purple Heart. The DOD has been non-responsive regarding said information though efforts continue to be made through my Congressman.
I'm aware of the 350th's actions during September - October 1944 but I can't find much regarding Co. H and I find no mention of Richard's name anywhere. Could the headstone application information be wrong?
Known facts: He enlisted in February 1943 He was trained in a tank brigade He was transferred into the 350th Infantry in September, 1944. MIA October 25, 1944
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Does anyone have access to any additional information?
Thanks in advance.
