Hello! I am new to the group. Hope everyone is well. I am researching my mother-in-law's father: Cyril J Foley. I know he served in the 88th Infantry, possibly with Headquarters Company, from 1943-1945, and received the Purple Heart for wounds received during combat in 1944. I am really hoping to find pictures or stories from anyone who may have served with him.
Thank you in advance!

Hi Gina, Sorry for the delay. In Delaney's Blue Devils in Italy book he is listed in the 349th regiment's decorations and awards section as having received a Purple Heart. There's no ww2 vets on the list that I'm aware of and unless it's a personal acquaintance or you're involved somehow with ww2 vets groups it's not likely you'll meet anybody that served with the 15,000 + men in the 88th. If you haven't read the historical narratives on the 349th, the rest of the 88th files, here's a link. www.mtmestas.com/349th-infantryregiment.htm#filesAfter reading all this and a few books on the invasion of Italy you'll know a lot and will be just like you were there. gs
