On the Internet I found this photo of the 88th Military Police Division in Gorizia July 1945. I would like to know if anyone has other photos of Gorizia 1945/46 or stories and testimonies. My grandparents had the Unione hotel in the street where this photo was taken (via Garibaldi). I can't copy the photo ... Thanks

Do you live in Gorizia? It is a beautiful place. I was there nine months ago. There is an expert on the 88th in Gorizia who lives there and is going to open a museum. COVID-19 has interfered with funding, though. I have some books that he gave me (in Italian) with old photos and you can buy them at that bookstore on Corso Italia. I know of some other resources also. Let me know. The Allied Military Government in Venezia-Giulia is my special interest. Otherwise, there were people on this forum before who had info, so maybe they will come forward. Many pictures are from 1947, when Gorizia was redeemed to Italy.

Thanks Inky, I don't live in Gorizia, I was only born there as well as my family. I am looking for references on the life of those war years and the Unione hotel. Thanks for your suggestions and have a nice day

If you have not done so already, contact the Isonzo Historical Research Group in Gorizia. www.isonzo-grs.it/They are the publishers of one of the books and are very knowledgeable and friendly.
